Silk Care

For centuries, silk has been considered the epitome of luxury, due to its pearl-like gloss shine, soft feel, high cost to produce and elegant appearance. Thanks to its organic nature, mulberry silk is known for its breathability, hypoallergenic features, and moisture retention; simply put, it keeps you cool on a hot day and preserves your body‘s heat in the cold.

Silk is a luxurious and delicate fabric that requires special care to maintain its softness and luster. JNSQ silk clothes are no exception, and it is essential to take care of them properly to ensure they last for a long time. Here are some tips on how to take care of pure silk clothes.

  1. Dry-cleaning or Hand Wash Only: We always recommend to use dry-cleaning service for our silk pieces, however if it's not possible you can also hand wash your items. It is best to hand wash pure silk clothes using lukewarm water and a gentle detergent, designed for delicate fabrics. Gently swirl the garment in the water, being careful not to rub or twist it too much.  Avoid using bleach or fabric softener, as these can damage the silk fibers. Rinse with clean water and press out any excess water. Please make sure to not use washing machine, silk is a delicate fabric that can be easily damaged.

  2. Do Not Soak: Do not soak silk clothes for an extended period as it can cause the fabric to lose its shape and color. Wash silk clothes quickly and rinse them thoroughly with clean water.

  3. Dry Flat: Silk clothes should be dried flat on a clean, dry towel and roll it up to remove excess water. Then, lay it flat to dry in a shaded area, away from direct sunlight. Do not hang silk clothes, as the weight of the water can stretch the fabric, causing it to lose its shape.

  4. Iron on Low Heat: Silk clothes should be ironed on a low heat setting while they are still slightly damp. Use a pressing cloth or a clean, dry towel between the iron and the silk to protect the fabric. Don't leave the iron in one spot for too long, as this can scorch the fabric.

  5. Store Properly: Store silk clothes in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Avoid hanging silk clothes in a closet as this can cause the fabric to stretch out of shape. Instead, fold silk clothes carefully and store them in a drawer or on a shelf.

  6. Remove Stains Quickly: If you spill something on your silk clothes, remove the stains quickly to prevent them from setting in permanently. Before using any cleaning solution on your silk fabric, it's important to test for colorfastness. Choose an inconspicuous area of the fabric and apply a small amount of the cleaning solution. Wait a few minutes and then blot the area with a clean cloth. If there is no color transfer or damage to the fabric, it's safe to use the solution on the stain.

By following these tips, you can keep your silk clothes looking their best for years to come. Remember to always read the care label on your garment, as some silk fabrics may have specific care instructions. With a little extra care, your silk clothes will continue to be a luxurious and elegant addition to your wardrobe.
